The New Bookshop & Coffee Shop
An independent bookshop and coffee shop in the heart of the Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District.
A large, friendly bookshop with a wide range of books always on the shelves. Book groups, storytelling, author and special events held regularly.
We are open 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday with an impressive selection of hand chosen books, as well as stationary and gifts – perfect for all your present buying needs. Hosting author events, book signings, literature readings and book club evenings. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook for upcoming events.
Our coffee shop adjoining the bookshop is all about excellent coffee, simple food and an antidote to all of that rushing about. We promise we will never rush you. Linger and enjoy. Typically we serve soup of the day and light lunches.
If you are accompanied by your four legged friend, you can sit at the breakfast bar at the front of the bookshop or use one of our outside tables.
