Join us 10am – 5pm any day between Friday 24th October – Sunday 2nd November and take a little walk around our Halloween trail in our woodland area.No purchase necessary (although we hear the ice cream is very nice) just pop into the cafe to pick up a trail sheet and then return once you’ve found the letters to make the spooky word for a little treat on us.

Fireworks let off at 6pm. Harris Park Foot Bridge, Memorial Gardens Play Area and Wakefield Car Park closed from 5pm-7pm. Access via Gote Road. Parking available at James Walkers. Please do not bring own fireworks or alcohol.

The perfect workshop to ring in the Christmas spirit! Learn the art of laying gold leaf by gilding your own festive Christmas ornaments and decorations.You will be taught about the art of gilding, how it has changed over time and how you can use it in your own home to give anything a new gilded sparkle! Your festive decorations will make stunning mementoes of the day which can be used as personalised Christmas presents or ornaments!

Book your place on a fused glass Christmas decoration taster session with Roxanne Denny of RD Glass. Learn a new skill and have fun being creative with hands on instruction and the freedom to choose what you make. During the session you will use pre-cut pieces of glass, glass rods and crushed glass in a range of shapes and colours. You will design and produce your choice of up to three Christmas decorations, which will then be taken to the tutor’s studio to fire. Roxanne will be on hand to assist, offer tips and to teach you about how fused glass is made. All materials and use of equipment are included in the price. Your finished pieces can be collected in two weeks or posted to you for a charge of £5. We recommend having a look at fused glass images prior to the class to give you an idea of what to expect and some inspiration!

The shop doorways will be lit by candles, the Christmas window displays will be sparkling, festive music playing on the streets, and there will be loads of tasty food and drink on offer at our pubs, cafes and restaurants. “Love your local high street this Christmas.” 

Celebrate Cumbria’s winter season by making your very own sustainable Festive Wreath to dress your front door. Harriet from Cumberland Flower Farm will bring a lovely mix of cumbrian evergreen foliages, grasses and berries and guide you in crafting a compostable wreath using sustainable materials and techniques. Tuition, materials and tools and equipment will be supplied, but please wear old clothes or an apron and bring gardening gloves if you have them. No previous experience is necessary.
