The Wheatsheaf Inn & Accommodation

Situated in the tranquil, some might say hidden, Vale of Lorton, a warm welcome awaits visitors to the 17th century Wheatsheaf Inn.

Blessed with panoramic views of some of the finest Lakeland fells, Whinlatter, Hobcarton, Hopegill Head, Whiteside and Grassmoor, The Wheatsheaf Inn is in a truly idyllic location.

Mark and his wife Jackie make children most welcome and dogs are allowed in the bar (as long as they are on a lead). The bar, quaint and cosy, warmed by a roaring open fire, resembles in decor and through the collected books and artefacts, a gamekeepers lodge. “We have many farmers and local folk come in and we like them to feel at home,” says Jackie. “The restaurant area, also with an open fire, is suited to those who may want to dress up, though you can be as formal or informal as you like.” The relaxed atmosphere at The Wheatsheaf will make leaving difficult and you will not be rushed.

Extensive grounds back onto an enclosed beer garden with spectacular views, ideal for visitors with small children requiring a high level of security. There is a large car park and also caravan and camping facilities. For more details of the accommodation on offer please visit our website.
